Depict! Production Diary

October 19th 2012

     We returned to garage band to try and make our own music with no luck we decided to use incidental music instead as this would be easier to have, we would not have to make it and also no copyrights would be involved. We added a sound effect of a creaking door to give a classic horror convention to it. we also started working more on the opening credits to try give it that scary Halloween feel I talked about previously by blurring the opening credits in and out, although we cannot have the blood dripping that we previously wanted. Finally we experienced some problems with jumping and sound, every time we pressed play it would stop after 3 seconds so we sorted that out but then there was rendering problems which still need to be fixed and are being caused by unknown reasons.

October 18th 2012

     We came into the lesson and started on the opening credits the colour scheme and font looks okay but we still have to find the desired effect wanted for our credits to give the scary Halloween effect. We had to reedit a couple of shots as one was showing me licking my finger to turn a page twice so we cut it down so it was only once. Towards the end of the lesson we started to mess about with garage band to see it we can make our own music.

October 17th 2012

     We finished editing the visuals today the only shot that might have to be edited is the zoom out from the TV to make it more steady but other than that all of the shots have been edited and put together. Opening and ending credits still have to be done along with the music but shot visuals are finished.

October 16th 2012

    Today we finished filming in our first lesson and even started editing in our second lesson. Today most of the shots were filmed outside and we even had to re shoot some things due to having more make up on as the Zombie. Once editing we noticed some errors but other than that and being dark it turned out well. We changed some shots due to having a lack of space and not having the right lighting but they worked out well in its place.

October 15th 2012

    Today we started filming getting the shots we needed and filmed inside the house showing Skipper watching a scary film whilst the zombie is approaching him and entering the room. We finished on skipper running into the door although the shots turned out fairly dark.

October 12th 2012

    The weather has been too bad to film today so we spent the time doing an Extension Task and also filling out our last bits of paper work and trying to polish off the pre-production stuff before we get round to filming hopefully we should be filming by Monday.

October 10th 2012

     We recce'd our locations today and look and how to do our shots as it has been changed from Skipper's house to Connor's house due to having to do it in college and Skipper's house being to far. We also looked at  the outside and worked out how Skipper would jump the fence and some changes have had to be made. We filled out our risk assessment and have got to get a location agreement signed by Connor's mum.

October 9th 2012

      We worked on our story boards today finishing off all four pages and all the shots that will be included. Some will be added and removed in edit and filming but that is to be expected. We went over the edits we wish to include and also the props and costumes that need to be included. We have also discussed location and will try to film as much in college as possible due to having to do it in lessons.

October 8th 2012

      Today we sat down and made up a shot list of all the shots we want for our Depict! film. We aimed at having about 20 shots to cover 90 seconds of footage and in the end we had 24, some may have to be cut whilst filming due to time or if we film them all some can be cut in the edit. We decided that if we can it will be filmed at Skipper's house but a back-up plan is still required,  We also decided I would be the one to play the zombie and I would clone myself over the use of Adobe After Effects. We started the first to shots in the story board today and the rest will have to be filled in during next lesson. Today we even came up with a name for our project. We have decided to name it Trick Or Trick!

October 5th 2012

       Today we discussed our Depict! idea finalising it. We came up with a plot and started to write the synopsis. We briefly started to discuss music and characters but on Monday this will be what is mainly discussed along with what props will be used and where we will be filming.

October 4th 2012

      Today we got into our placed groups for the first time and started to discuss ideas for our 90 second Depict! movie. We came up with the idea of the mind playing tricks on you and paranoia, as Halloween is coming up shortly we had an idea of someone watching a scary film and the mind playing tricks on the person after watching the film and due to Halloween there were all sorts of scary creatures outside only causing more problems. This is only a rough draft that still needs to be tweaked and fine tuned in terms of story but props and costumes still also need to be sorted. I will update on this when more work has been made.
